Thoughtfully Designed.
Rooted in Community.
Made with love. Made for you.
I grew up sewing with my mother. I would design something, and we would venture to the fabric store where I was inspired by the array of textiles, searching for the perfect materials to match my vision. She would work with me to lay out the materials and cut the pattern while I would thread the needle and prep the machine.
We brought our designs to life in our quaint sewing room.
When my daughter was born in 2016, I felt the need to create. I started making baby blankets for my daughter and friends that were expecting. I worked on an old, barely functioning Singer sewing machine. After many failed projects and blankets that had beautiful intentions but just did not come together the way I envisioned. I finally made progress and the product started to get better.
Made with love.
I made my first blanket for my dear friends who were expecting a baby girl, who they had nicknamed their little bump “bird bird” throughout her pregnancy. After she was born, the blanket quickly became a favorite and is still the primary blanket for their now 5 year old. I loved sewing, and I loved giving my products away as gifts even more. With their encouragement, the brand birdbird was born.
I continued sewing for fun. My family grew and we moved to Portland, Oregon.
My kids grew, along with my time to explore my passions. We landed in Portland and allowed our roots to grow in the beautiful community of Multnomah Village. I’ve spent my time between my kids and volunteering in our community. I could go on and on about my love for community and the importance of connection, but bringing people together for good is where my heart thrives. We plan on raising our kids in this loving area of Portland, Oregon, and we plan to love it right back and make it a safe and welcoming place for all who find their way here.
I started making pillows, and once again my first project was a gift for a beautiful and inspiring friend of mine. At the time, she was close to completing a project that was such an important leap in her personal and professional life. I wanted to show her how proud and just in awe of her I was. I thought for months on the right gift for her and her new studio space. Then it clicked and the project came together with such joy and ease.
Made for you.
This sparked me to kickoff a new project creating pillows for birdbird. I started searching for inspiring textiles and putting together new designs. I have more projects in the works and hope to grow birdbird from pillows to more beautiful, timeless, and joyful pieces for any home.
My hope is for you to find as much joy in my products as I get out of making them.
With love & gratitude,
Corin Wallace
